The Arkansas HIV/AIDS Prevention Coalition is asking churches from around the state to recognize World Aids Day on November 30, 2008 during their time of worship. We are designating this recognition as Compassion Sunday. Compassion Sunday is a combined effort of state, grass-roots, and faith based organizations seeking support from Churches to share information on the impact of HIV/AIDS in Arkansas's communities. The goal is have at least one church in each congressional district to participate in this effort. For in sharing, there is compassion.
The Arkansas Minority Health Commission has an affiliation with the Black AIDS Institute Community Mobilization College which prompted the organization of the coalition and recently partnered as an organizational affiliate with their Test 1 Million Campaign. The Arkansas HIV/AIDS Prevention Coalition will be planning future activities to support this partnership.
